HTA
Procedures are performed in a comfortable and familiar office setting.
The HTA is a device which is passed into the uterine cavity. This device circulates heated saline which burns the lining of the uterus. This procedure will stop, or significantly decrease, menstrual bleeding. 94% of patients who have undergone this procedure reported a satisfactory decrease in menstrual flow.
HTA allows minimally invasive treatment of excessive menstrual bleeding. Because the treatment relies on the circulation of heated saline, which fills the uterine cavity, it has the unique ability to treat even those women whose uterine cavities have abnormal shapes and also some with fibroids.
- The HTA circulates physiologic saline throughout the uterine cavity
- The saline is gradually heated to a temperature of 90 degrees centigrade
- Within minutes, the heated saline starts to destroy the endometrial lining of the uterus (indicated by the changing color)
